TRAVEL SUGGESTIONS

The wedding ceremony is taking place in Lu's hometown of Endicott, with the reception in Johnson City, NY - both close suburbs of Binghamton, NY.

As you may have surmised, the Binghamton Airport is not very big, and therefore does not accommodate many jet flights. If you are within a 6-hour drive, we would recommend driving. The distance between Washington, DC, and Binghamton, NY, is approximately 300 miles, or 5.5 hours of drive time (in decent traffic). In September, it should be a pretty drive through the mountains of Pennsylvania.

However, if you would prefer to fly, here is some information that may be of help to you in your travel planning…

There are plenty of prop flights into and out of Binghamton. For those of you who do not like to fly on props, the Binghamton Airport (BGM) accommodates the following limited jet flights through Pittsburgh on US Airways on 50-seat Enbraer jets (as of March, 2003):

• Friday, 9/19: Departing PIT at 1:10p, landing at BGM at 2:15p
• Friday 9/19: Departing PIT at 10:05p, landing at BGM at 11:10p
• Sunday, 9/21: Departing BGM at 7:15a, landing at PIT at 8:27a
• Sunday, 9/21: Departing BGM at 3:00a, landing at PIT at 4:12p

We have also recently heard that Delta is now flying jets to Binghamton through Cincinnati, Ohio.

Note: Although most of the major airlines do have some flights into and out of Binghamton, American Airlines does NOT fly to or from Binghamton.

The next best airport to fly into is the Syracuse airport (SYR). The Syracuse airport is right on Route 81, and an easy 75-minute drive to/from Binghamton (just hop on I-81 South at the airport). Syracuse hosts more airlines and many more flight options.

The rates listed include shuttle transportation to/from the reception. The reception is less than 2 miles away from the hotel. Shuttling to the reception will start around 4:30pm from the hotel lobby, and continue until complete. Shuttling from the reception to the hotel will begin at 10pm, however an earlier phone call will be accommodated.

There is a complimentary continental breakfast each morning until 11am. There is also complimentary use of the nearby Court Jester Athletic Club, including whirlpool, sauna, steam room, pool, track, basketball courts, racquetball/squash courts, aerobic classes, nautilus equipment, cybex equipment, and cardiovascular equipment.

There are some refrigerator/microwave units for those who request them.

There is an airport shuttle between Binghamton's airport (BGM, aka Edwin Link Field) for $14 each way.

The hotel is directly across the street from the area's one and only Oakdale Mall. There are also various restaurants within close walking distance of the hotel, including Friendly's, Chi-Chi's, Christie's Grill, Pizza Hut, and Ruby Tuesday.
